Frequently Asked Questions
Are MoneyZio's calculators free to use?
Yes. Every calculator on MoneyZio.com is free, with no sign-up, account, or email address required.
Is MoneyZio.com regulated financial advice?
No. MoneyZio.com provides general information only — it's not financial advice, tax advice, or a regulated financial promotion. We're not a financial adviser, mortgage broker, or accountant. See our Legal & Disclaimer page for the full detail.
What tax year do the calculators use?
All calculators use HMRC rates for the 2026/27 tax year, running from 6 April 2026 to 5 April 2027. We'll update the figures when new rates are announced for future tax years.
Does MoneyZio store the numbers I enter?
No. All calculations run entirely in your own browser using JavaScript. Nothing you type is sent to, or stored on, our servers.
Why is my Mortgage Guide figure different from what my bank offered?
Every lender applies its own affordability criteria — credit history, existing debts, dependants, and more all factor in beyond simple income multiples. Our Mortgage Guide gives a rough range based on common industry practice, not a lender-backed assessment. Speak to a mortgage adviser or lender directly for a figure you can rely on.
I think a figure is wrong — what should I do?
Please let us know — we'd rather fix a genuine error than have it sit uncorrected. See our Legal & Disclaimer page for contact details.
